MRC, Triton Catamaran Boat (standard
twin motor Electric version) The kit we built is
Option #2
Inboard electric motors & solid shaft to a steering strut type drive, 2-1/2lbs.
This is a basic BEGINNER kit which can be assembled in 3 to 4 hours. All
specialty tools supplied are supplies with the kit. However, the kit does
require a drill for a few small holes, phillips screw driver, scissors, hobby
knife and epoxy or super glue.
![]() The first step is to get out the boat stand and install the foam rubber strips |
![]() Next follow the steps in the instructions where you test fit the motors, drive shaft and outdrive. Install the drive tube assembly and glue it into place. We used 5 minute epoxy. |
![]() Next blue loc-tite ALL the set screws and secure the motor/gear box assembly to the boat with 6 screws. |
![]() Adjust the gears to all mesh properly and tighten the screws. |
![]() Now start to assemble the speed control |
![]() Continue, by installing the servos, receiver and battery holder. Take time now to route the wires nicely. |
![]() Install the radio tray and plug in the motors to the speed control. |
![]() Grease and install the steering rods. Be sure to turn on the radio and make sure the servos are centered before permanently attaching the rods. |
![]() Secure the steering strut to the transom and adjust the drive shafts for proper fit. |
![]() Next, loc-tite all the set screws on the drive assemble and install the prop. |
![]() Double check your installation and turn the driveline by hand to make sure it spins smoothly. |
![]() Next hook up the speed control (item with all the wires), by connecting the servo to the control arm as shown in the instructions. Again, make sure the servo is centered before tightening down the servo horn. This is also a good time to put the receiver and on board battery into rubber radio gear bags to prevent water damage. |
![]() Next drill a few small holes in the hatch cover for the antenna, post and drivers heads. At this time you can paint any portions of the boat you wish. Lastly wipe down the hull and install the decals supplies with the kit. |
![]() Finally charge the batteries and test all the radio gear be sure left is left and right is right (when standing behind the boat). Also make sure the motor is turning in the proper direction and the speed control operates the motor in the full range from stop to full (and reverse). You are done - go have some FUN. |
